Miriam Watches the Basket
When baby Moses needs protection, his mother places him in a carefully prepared basket among the reeds by the river. His sister watches from a distance.
Pharaoh’s daughter finds the basket and notices the baby. Miriam speaks up and offers to find someone to nurse him. Through her brave words, Moses’ mother is able to care for her child.
Rabbi Moose focuses on Miriam’s watchfulness. Even a young person can notice something important and seek help. Courage does not mean doing every difficult thing alone. Often, it means telling the right grown-up what we see. Caring eyes and a clear little voice can make a difference.
