Ruth Stays Close

Ruth and Naomi have faced difficult changes. When Naomi plans to return to her home, Ruth chooses to stay with her and share the journey.

In their new surroundings, Ruth gathers grain left in a field so they can have food. Boaz notices her care for Naomi and helps make the field a kinder place for her to work.

Rabbi Moose says that friendship can be a steady kind of courage. We cannot make every hard thing disappear for someone we love. But we can listen, offer practical help, and avoid leaving them to feel forgotten. Staying close can begin with a simple question: what would help you today?

For grown-ups: the source and wider story

This is a selective retelling inspired by Ruth 1:16–22; 2:1–17. It is not a translation or a complete account. Choose the wider discussion that fits your child.
