Joseph’s Special Coat
Joseph’s father gives him a special coat. His brothers see the attention Joseph receives, and jealousy grows. Joseph also tells them about his dreams, which makes their feelings stronger.
This is the beginning of a much longer story. In this gentle glimpse, Rabbi Moose invites us to notice how difficult feelings can build when people compare themselves with one another.
Someone else’s gift does not make us less important. Still, feelings need a safe place to be heard. Instead of using hurtful words, we can tell a trusted grown-up that we feel left out. We can also remember that each person brings something different to a family. Love is bigger than a special coat.
